■ Dr.M Project (모바일 헬스케어 서비스를 지원하는 센서네트워크 데이터베이스 시스템 개발)

  ● Description :  개인 및 지역 집단의 헬스케어에 관련된 건강 및 환경 데이터를 수집하는 소프트웨어가 필요하다. 서비스의 의도와 무관한 대량의 스트림데이터를 수집하는 대신, 헬스케어 도메인 서비스가 필요로 하는 대상(개인 및 지역 집단)으로부터 적시에 필요한 정보를 수집하기 위하여 데이터베이스 형태의 질의 처리 언어와 질의처리기법이 필요하다. 이 제안에서는 iDB 연구실에서 개발한 SNQL (Sensor Network Query Language)/SNQL처리기 시제품을 Dr. M 사업의 서비스 모델에 적용한다. 즉, ‘모바일 개인 및 지역집단으로부터 헬스케어 정보 및 환경 데이터 수집’을 지원하는 모바일 센서네트워크용 데이터베이스 관리기를 개발하고 이를 테스트베드 시스템에 적용하는 기술을 개발한다.

■ Query Processing System Development for Efficient Stream Data Collection in Wireless Sensor Network

  ● Period : 2011. 1 ~ 2013. 12 
  ● Granted and Funded by : Altibase Corp.
  ● Description : This is 1st Year Project of Middleware and Agent Development for Real-time Processing of Large-scale data and Context-aware Service Provision in Sensor Network. Initial usage of WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) is pulling the sensing data continuously. However, interested data among these results is limited, so researches of query processing in WSN enlarge their area. Thus, we're developing Sensor Network Query Processor  with Language (SNQL).

  ● Description : Our goal is to design and implement a middleware which enables computing entities such as PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, and even smart objects to be aware of physical worlds, understand their users and seamlessly interact with each other to provide context-aware and ubiquitous services. In this project, we are working on context management. we are investigating how to gather, infer, and store context information in a generic way and disseminate it to context-aware applications.

  ● Description : In this project, we are developing the middleware components for context management in ubiquitous environment. Context-awareness enables a computing system to adapt to users proactively without user's intervention. Context management are getting more and more important when we consider multiple users as a group as well as an each individual at the same time. We focus on the middleware-level solution for "Group-Context" such as context-conflict, context-harmonization, and group-only. This project is trying to suggest a long-term solution for ubiquitous home environment.

■ Context-aware Service Reconfigurable Framework for Smart Home Environment
  ● Period : July 2003 ~ February 2004

  ● Granted-by : Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology
  ● Description : The objective of this research is developing a context-aware middleware system which can load useful services for users without distracting users. The project is challenging to tackle problems caused by the situation where multiple users share their environments. Only personalized context-awareness is not enough in this situation. Therefore, we introduce "Group-Context" to solve the problem caused by conflicting individual contexts. This project is trying to suggest a short-term solution for ubiquitous home environment.


■ Development of Semantic-Aware Metadata Transformation Engine
  ● Period  : March 2002 ~ December 2004
  ● Research Fund : $70,000 (3 years) 
  ● Granted-by : Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI)
  ● Description : The objective of this research is developing an XML data transformation engine to be used for metadata interoperability. The transformation engine is based on Semantic-Web concept, that enables this engine to inference relevant matching terms for metadatas from different domains. The usage of this engine can include various Semantic-Web related area, including the upcoming Interactive Digital Broadcasting System.


■ Development of Mitochondrial DNA Sequence Retrieval System (MitoDB)
  ● Period: September 2002 ~ August 2004 (2 years)

  ● Granted-by: Korea Science and Engineering Foundation
  ● Description: Many bio-medical research show that mitochondrial DNA sequences have relatively high correlation with human diseases. We develop a mitochondrial DNA sequence retrieval and management system, which will be used for bio-medical research area


■ Development of Semantic Web based Digital Library System

  ● Description: Since Tim Berners-Lee introduced World Wide Web in 1989, the Web has been the most popular interface and information bus. He mentioned Semantic Web as next step of the Web, so that the Web will have semantics described by ontology and software agents will work using the semantics automatically and in an intelligent way. We are developing a digital library system based on the Semantic Web technologies; RDF and ontology. More over, the system will provide its functionality as Semantic Web Services.


■ Development of MPEG-7 Management System

  ● Description : The main goal is to design and implement of MPEG-7 data generating/transferring module. The module get the semi-structured or non-structured data from MPEG-7 data creation interface (feature extraction module) as the input. The data is transformed in the MPEG-7 XML document according to MPEG-7  ● Description Scheme. Also, one of objectives is research on design ensuring reuseness of the module.


■  Development of Database System for Large SNP Data and Implementation of Internet-based Knowledge Management System

  ● Description: The first goal of the project is to develop the system that provides SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) information and database manipulation via Web.   ● Description : This project is a part of Virtual Document System Development for Virtual Digital Library. It aims to develop a sub-system that manages links of Virtual Document efficiently and in an intelligent way. By applying XML and database techniques, the system will provide users with convenient query-accesses and Virtual Document System with high performance in hyper linkmanagement.


■ Development of a relational-to-XML converter for postal database management
  ● Period: April 2001 ~ November 2001 (8 months)
  ● Research Fund : $ 20,000 (8 months)
  ● Granted-by : Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI)
  ● Description : This project is to develop a relational-to-XML converter that converts relational postal address data into XML address database according to postal address DTD. This work includesdevelopment of tools for retrieval and edition of the XML address database and design of the address database schema to build XML address metadata.


■  Development of Database Technology for Multimedia Information Services

  ● Description : With the continuing explosion of multimedia documents, content-based data search becomes important and yet difficult. This project aims to develop a visual information repository system based on MPEG-7 metadata  standards.


■  Development of an electronic data exchange network (EDEN) for E-Commerce

  ● Granted-by : InsolSoft Co., Inc. and ICU Center for university-industry collaboration
  ● Description : EDEN system is an intelligent E-Commerce network built on top of active event-rule based system which will provide a wide range of Internet business solutions of the future with added decision-making facilities to traditional systems, automatic business processing capability, and advanced user interface. The developed system will be used for an Internet distribution of hard-to-store agricultural products.


■ Active Information Management Systems (AIMS) in IT Basic Research Initiative

  ● Description : AIMS is an active rule processing software to achieve auto-everything goal for the future information management. The aimed technology can be applied to a wide range of real-world applications, such as electronic commerce, negotiation system, information security, military command control, as well as traditional database management. A special emphasis is made on its implementation for Internet-based information services.


■ Electronic stamps: Efficient strategy for service and system
